Meet Leah
Leah Fitzpatrick is a developing textile artist and designer from Waterloo, Ontario, currently studying and living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her passion for the arts was reignited in 2023 when she learned to sew, which quickly became the catalyst for her transition into fashion studies.
Her experience in the fashion industry began in Dalhousie University’s Costume Studies program where she worked as a stagehand, prop maker, and dresser for all theatre productions during the 2023–2024 academic year. She also served as designer and curator for the Dalhousie Creative Minds Club 2024 Fashion Show, collaborating with Venture Thrift Halifax to create a collection that featured their vintage garments alongside her own handmade designs. Leah is now pursuing her education at NSCAD University where she explores a range of textile mediums including screen printing, dyeing, weaving, and felting. Her primary practice in fashion design and sewing draws inspiration from vintage and historical silhouettes, reimagined through organic, contemporary forms.
